For the better part of my teenage years and then well into my twenties I had this attitude that the future is when things were going to really click for me in my life.
Fast-forward twenty years and as a Dad, I can see the same thinking in my own kids.
They put off everything from learning valuable skills to social interactions, adventures right through to relationships believing that when they finish school, then they will do things differently.
Trouble is, once school is finished, then you are struggling with your first jobs, new relationships and the weight of the world is once again on your shoulders.
As you enter your late twenties and enter your thirties, suddenly things like serious relationships, marriage, having kids and climbing your career ladder all become the impediments to serious change and happiness in your life.
My point is that we all put off things like being ourselves, chasing our dreams, embracing adventures, being happier in life and really going for it believing that there will be a “next phase” of our lives that will enable us to finally act on our inner desires and dreams.
I’m here to tell you there is no such “magical” time in your life.
The reality is that you must MAKE this happen no matter what is going on in your life right now.
There is no right time…the right time is sooner rather than later.
How about you?
What have you been putting off in your life with the excuse or thought that tomorrow, next year or 5-years from now will be a better time?
What if you dug in and just made it happen right now…wouldn’t getting started acting on your dreams help you more than putting it off?
